Sketchbook

Like everyone else, I don't update it enough.

Return of the Air Service

It's been a long time since I've posted about Post Captain Brumby and the Air Service. That's mostly because it's been a long time since I've worked on it. But it's back on my plate once again. Call it a comeback. I stopped for a variety of reasons, chief among them was that it's hard to do - write a story, draw a story, make it interesting, something I'm proud of. It's gotten no easier during the last several months of not working on it. Arguably it's gotten harder & the only way to make it easier is just to do the damn thing. So I'm going to try & knock out a few pages.

I don't have the whole story written. In my first conception of it, it was just a short chapter ending on a cliffhanger. That cliffhanger is still my current goal - for this push at least. Once I get there I'll see whether I want to finish it, or move on to a different story. Either is fine, so long as I do make it to the cliffhanger. Not finishing that much would feel like, already does feel like, a failure.

To that end, enjoy a few sketches & process pics from the adventure.

Underground doors, stairs & tombs. I'm looking at Mignola & Fegredo's Hellboy for some of these.

Ink sketch of a frame that probably won't wind up in the story.

Starting to ink a panel you can see roughed out in the first image of the post.

I don't know if this fits into the story but I think it, or something like it, is part of the world. I would like to see more of the world at some point.

A couple previous Post Captain posts are here and here.

Hopefully lots more soon!

Cheers
